SENIOR QB RELISHES LEADERSHIP ROLE  | read this item

Springborofootball.com got an opportunity to catch up with senior QB Josh Little and find out what motivates him, what drives him and what makes him tick….

SF.COM: You’re now entering your senior year of football.  What year did you start playing?

JL:  I actually started playing in the 3rd grade.

SF.COM:  Have you always been a quarterback?

JL:  No.  Actally, I was an offensive and defensive lineman until my freshmen season.  That’s when I moved to quarterback.

SF.COM:  That’s an odd position change!  Sounds like it worked out well though, considering that you were named 1st Team All – GWOC South as a quarterback last year.  What is it about the quarterback position that you enjoy?

JL:  I like having control of the offense and being in a position of leadership.  Also, touching the ball virtually every play is awesome!

SF.COM:  I understand that Springboro has a unique way of naming their captains, one of which is having the outgoing senior class select an off-season captain to lead the team thru the winter and spring.  At last year’s banquet, you were named the off-season captain.  What does that mean to you?

JL:  It’s really humbling to know that all of the seniors who led me think of me as someone who has the potential to lead the team to success.

SF.COM:  What are your goals for the Springboro Panthers in 2011?

JL:  We’d like to successfuly defend our GWOC South title and qualify for the D1 play-offs for the first time in Springboro history.

SF.COM:  How would you describe the atmosphere surrounding the team and in the weight room?

JL:  At this point, just finishing up the winter portion of our off-season program, I’d say that we are right where we want to be.  Our attendance was lacking in the beginning, but we turned it up a notch in February and March and we have become a very focused group.

SF.COM:  What are your plans for after high school?  Do you hope to continue playing football?

JL:  I’d really love to enroll at a college where I can be a part of the football program.  I haven’t quite started the process of narrowing anything down, but I’m looking forward to it.

SF.COM:  Josh, could you name one thing, event, or time that has happened to you in your time with Springboro football that you believe will help you later in life?

JL:  Well, this may not be specific to Springboro football, but the times that I believe have helped me the most have been all of the off-season training sessions leading up to two-a-days and then eventually the first game.  During these workouts and practices, we as a team are pushed to the point where we don’t know if we will make it through, but we are forced to push forward.  This is something that I think will help me later in life because mental toughness is neccessary for success.
