IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION AND GROUPING OF PLAYER FOR 2012
For the 2012 Camp of Champions, Coach Wilhite and his staff have made some changes to the format and schedule. Due to increasing numbers, the Camp of Champions will now be split into 2 sessions.
The Youth Camp, for players entering grades 1-6 will still hold it’s traditional date of June 11-14. Times will be 9:00-12:00.
This year, a seperate JR. High Camp will be held on July 16-19 for players entering grades 7-8. The time will be 6:00-7:30 in the evening.
This new format will allow for more field space for the youth players allowing for more individual instruction and less waiting in lines at the drills / competitions. It will also allow the varsity coaching staff to be very instrumental in installing the offensive and defensive systems for the 7th and 8th grade teams.
The Camp of Champions is staffed by Coach Wilhite, his varsity coaching staff, and some of the varsity football players. Campers will have the opportunity to receive instruction at positions on offense, defense and in the kicking game. Players will also receive instruction in agility drills used in football, tour the new facilities at CareFlight Field and view some football videos.
Campers should wear a t-shirt, shorts and cleats if they have them to the camp. The camp is a non-contact camp and helmets are not worn during the camp. An official Springboro Football Camp of Champions camp t-shirt will be provided to each camper on the last day of the camp. Popcicles are also given to each camper at the end of each session.
